And I hereby undertake and agree at the request of the Director of Public Works to forthwith pay into Colonial Treasury such a sum as the Director of Public Works may request me in writing to pay in to cover or as a part payment in advance on account of the expense of all or any such works. And I further undertake and agree within seven days from the date on which an account in writing signed by the Director of Public Works shewing the nature of the works done and the amount payable therefor has been left at the address given below to pay the amount of such account together with an additional sum representing five per cent. of the amount expended on such works into the Colonial Treasury to the account of the Hongkong Government, such additional five per cont. being charged to cover the cost of the preparation of the necessary plans for the carrying out of the works and the supervision of same. I further agree that the supervision and management of the works shall be wholly carried out by the Director of Public Works without any reference to or interference by me, and his signature to such account as aforesaid shall bind me as admitting the correctness of the same as regards the works executed and the charges made.
